Description

Langhorne Creek wines, particularly known for their rich and fruit-driven Shiraz, offer a distinctive character marked by deep, ripe red fruit characters, earthy tannins, and a smooth, approachable style, thanks to the region’s cool maritime influence and fertile alluvial soils. The combination of a Mediterranean climate (long warm days and short cool nights), sitting about 420m above sea level and terra rossa soils is key to this approachable and fruit forward Shiraz.

Color

Dark purple in colour, this inky Shiraz is iconically South Australia.

Grape Varieties

Grape %
Shiraz 100

Aroma

Bright dark plum fruits, black cherry and rosewater on the nose

Taste

The palate is luscious and vibrant, minty and silky. Milk chocolate and a fine dusting of tanning compliment the finish

Cellaring Potential

Click '99 is drinking well now, and will keep in the cellar for 6-7 years.

Food Matching

Click '99 Shiraz pairs well with roasted lamb, beef dishes, and venison, as well as heartier options such as braised meats, barbecued ribs, and flavorful pasta dishes. You can also enjoy it with hard, salty cheeses, like a vintage cheddar or pecorino.

Vinification

Rockbare Click '99 Shiraz uses open-top stainless steel fermenters, initiating with a warm ferment to 28°C before being cooled to a long, 12-day, 22°C fermentation to preserve fruit aromatics. Following pressing, the wine undergoes malolactic fermentation.

Aging

Aged for 15 months in a mix of older French and American oak hogsheads and large-format French oak vats.
