Description

Chotard is located at the end of the village of Reigny, in Crézancy-en-Sancerre, surrounded by a cirque of hills of Kimeridgeian clay-limestone marl. The plots located on these slopes are sunny all day long, and the vines planted there sink their roots into the springs that run through the subsoil. The juices from these plots are ample, round, and delicious. Les Coutones is the name of a plot located on a steep slope nicknamed the 'Slope of the Sun'.  The soils are affectionately known as "loving lands" because when it rains, the earth sticks to the boots - 'les coutones'. The exposure is due South but the clay soil, with its freshness, temper the heat, which means that the grapes maturation is rather long.
